There have been some hiccoughs with getting started, so here is an update:
I was supposed to start a new Integrative Medicine practice this week. Unfortunately, credentialing with insurance companies had some delays and that time has now been pushed back to next month.
September 18th I start my Integrative Medicine practice through Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. This will be a virtual position, meaning all appointments will be virtual only. I will probably work something out to be able to see patients in person once yearly to accommodate my patients who have lipedema and need the initial diagnostic exam, etc. But otherwise I will be working from home.
Integrative Medicine is an umbrella term that can include Functional Medicine, Nutritional and Lifestyle Medicine, Herbal Medicine, CAM, and/or various traditional medicine practices (e.g., Ayurvedic, Traditional Chinese Medicine, etc.). It is "integrative" in that it:
combines Western allopathic or osteopathic medicine with one of the alternatives listed above (with an emphasis on those practices with the best scientific evidence behind them).
seeks to integrate the entire person (physically, emotionally, socially, psychologically, spiritually, etc.) in working toward better health and wholeness (as opposed to focusing merely on the disease/illness).
A few points of clarification to address email messages I've received:
I will no longer be practicing Primary Care. You will need to establish with a Primary Care provider (PCP) if you do not already have one. If you are in the Sheboygan area, I recommend my former colleagues at Froedtert who are all excellent physicians and nurse practitioners.
I cannot schedule an appointment for you through this website, and this site is not officially associated with my employer. Please call 1.218.786.2125 or have your PCP make a referral if you'd like to set up an appointment.
Essentia Health takes major insurance carriers including Medicare and Medicaid
Generally, the type of conditions I see patients for are as follows (in no particular order and its not exclusionary):
General health coaching
Myalgic Encephalopthathy/CFS
Long COVID
Autoimmune and Immune dysregulation-related diseases (e.g.,Eczema, UC, Crohn's, Hashimoto's)
Lipedema
Cardiometabolic disease reversal and management (diabetes/insulin-resistance, hypertension, cardiovascular disease)
Anxiety and depression (alternative treatments for)
Hormone management (Low T, Menopausal symptoms)
ReCODE (Reversing Cognitive Decline / The Bredesen Protocol
Gastrointestinal disturbances
Is the "core kit" the vitamins
Eric, Thanks so much for this posting. It's been a bit a challenge to find you in your new medical practice and to more clearly understand your care focus, after several months of hopefully reconnecting with your superior health care. Best wishes for your opportunity to more fully endeavor into integrative medical care, Keith
